If you are a permanent resident of another state, have an active RN license in that state and plan to do your clinical practicum experiences in that state, you will not have to obtain a New York State RN license UNLESS your State Board of Nursing does not permit students enrolled in programs out-of-state to do their practicum in their resident state. If you are not sure, you can check with the Clinical Coordinator at Â鶹ÉçÇø.

Yes. Students who take one course per semester are considered part-time students. However, there is no official designation for part-time. Students do not have to notify their advisor if they wish to take more than one course per semester.

There is no specific deadline to apply to the Nursing Program at Â鶹ÉçÇø. Applications are collected on a rolling basis. Only completed applications are reviewed for admission. Students are admitted into fall, spring, or summer semester. Semester admission depends on when the completed application was reviewed. Typically, students are admitted into the next semester, if courses have already begun. For example, your application is reviewed in early August, you are eligible for admission in the fall semester.

The entire graduate program is taken in an online modality (asynchronous and hybrid). This means that some required courses are taught asynchronous online and other required courses are taught hybrid online (1/3 of the lectures are synchronous and 2/3 of lectures are taught asynchronously). Hybrid classes are associated with a specific day and time.  The practicum course is taken in-person. 

The nursing program will accept up to six credits from another graduate program if: the courses were taken within five years of admission date; received a B or better in the course; the course is pertinent to the plan of study. Transfer credits taken prior to admission are not computed in the quality point average.

Completing your MS in Nursing Administration requires a 120-hour practicum. Students are placed with a preceptor or mentor in an administrative area.

As of now, the 15-month program only begins in the fall semester.

The nursing program does not require GREs or MATs of admission consideration.

The Master of Science in Nursing Administration degree is a 36-credit program that can be completed in: six semesters (2 courses/semester - fall, spring and summer); more than six semesters (dependent upon the number of courses taken each semester and when admitted).

The graduate nursing program is designed to prepare students in Nursing Administration or Nursing Education to:

• Assume leadership roles
• Support and engage in nursing research
• Contribute to the advancement of the nursing professions
• Participate in lifelong learning
• Collaborate with other disciplines to enhance the quality of healthcare
• Prepare for doctoral study

Upon admission students are assigned a faculty adviser. The faculty adviser assesses the credit requirements necessary for completion of the program and to develop a long-term plan of study. 

Graduate courses taken at other institutions prior to admission at Â鶹ÉçÇø may, if pertinent to the plan of study, be credited to the graduate degree. Transfer credits are limited to six credits taken within the last five years in which the student has received a grade of B or above. Transfer courses taken prior to admission will not be computed in the quality point average. 

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing and master's degree program in nursing at Â鶹ÉçÇø is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791.

The master’s degree in nursing at Â鶹ÉçÇø is accredited by the New York Board of Regents, New York State Education Department, 89 Washington Avenue, Board of Regents, Room 110 EB, Albany, New York 12234

Requirements for the degree must be completed within five years from the candidate's date of matriculation (exclusive of time spent in the Armed Forces). Exceptions may be made by the director of the program if the student's request:

• Demonstrates circumstances beyond his or her control
• Circumstances that temporarily interfere with the ability to complete the program on time

The program is designed for students to take six - nine credits per semester. The curriculum is organized into core courses and specialization courses. Specialization courses are offered prior to the practicum course. All courses are offered either onsite and online (hybrid) or online. 

Practicum is a 120 hour precepted experience in a student's specialty track - Education or Administration. Students should be in touch with Practicum advisor at least one semester before they are scheduled to begin. Students must be in good academic standing with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, to enroll in Practicum.

Requirements include:

1. Current malpractice insurance that extends through practicum period
2. Current BCLS
3. Copy of current NY State RN license verification from New York State Office of Professions website or any other State within the U.S.A. in which you will engage in the practicum experience
4. Completed background check and drug screen: Associated fees for these clearances must be paid by the student

The agency may request any/all of the following PRIOR TO starting the on-site practicum:

1. Lab report with titers from MMR, Varicella and Hepatitis B, C
2. Proof mask fitting; Vaccination for seasonal flu, T-Dap, Hepatitis B, pneumonia or declination; color vision screening. Note: some agency policies require mask use wit flu declination
3. Recent PPD or negative chest X-Ray
4. HIPAA, infection control &/or corporate compliance education verification

It is recommended that you start assembling copies of lab values and documentation of necessary requirements.
