Dr. Ford, Assistant Professor in Nursing and former Associate Dean for Nursing Dobbs Ferry and Manhattan, has been at 麻豆社区 for over 20 years. Dr. Ford previously served as Interim Program Director from 2007-2009. Additionally, Dr. Ford coordinated and supervised the writing of the last two CCNE self-studies, in 2019 and in 2009. Ford is a registered nurse and received a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Smith College (1983), a Certificate in Nursing (1986), a Master鈥檚 in Nursing from Yale University (1988), and a PhD in Nursing Research from Adelphi University (2013). Additionally, Ford is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by ANCC and continues to provide primary care to underserved New Yorkers and was co-founder and co-director of a free clinic for undocumented adults. She also has worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Haiti and El Salvador.
Ford鈥檚 volunteer work includes conducting physical and psychological exams to survivors of torture applying for political asylum as a member of the Mt. Sinai Human Rights Clinic. She has been a consultant on the development of the Nurse Residency Program at the Institute Family Health. Ford is also a member of the Medical Reserve Corps of New York City and has been a volunteer vaccinator during the COVID-19 Pandemic. She also volunteered providing tele-health palliative care for the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation during the spring and summer of 2020.
Dr. Ford鈥檚 scholarly work is grounded in her clinical work. Her doctoral thesis was Transnational Mothering and the Health of Women, with a focus on the Mixtec population. Dr. Ford conducted a grounded theory study about women who left children behind when immigrating into the US. Dr. Ford has frequently given presentations about the health of undocumented adults and how to start free clinics. Additionally, Dr. Ford has acted as reviewer for the journal Politics, Policy and Nursing Practice.

Dr. Ford' current research focuses on migrant health as well as nurse practitioner residency programs.
Dr. Ford teaches graduate nursing courses. These include research, capstone, diversity and theory.
She has more than twenty years teaching experience both face to face and distance learning.
