October 8 Message from the Department of Campus Safety

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff:

In our continuing efforts to provide for the safety of our campus community, individuals who enter campus buildings will now be required to use the Mavericks Safe App to show proof of vaccination or participation in the College’s COVID-19 testing program.  This policy will take effect on Monday, October the 11th.

The Mavericks Safe App – the same tool that was used last year for daily self-health screenings – now includes a Vaccine Passport feature that will be required to be shown when entering most campus buildings.  Compliance status with the College’s COVID 19 Vaccination Policy has been uploaded to the App for those individuals who previously submitted the required data. Users will press the gold COVID 19 button on the App Home Screen in order to access the Vaccine Passport feature which will prompt them to “Check My Status:”

Your compliance status will be indicated by a colored QR code.  You will need to present your compliance status through the App to the Campus Safety officer on duty at each entry point.  Access will be granted to those with Green and Yellow QR codes, but denied to those with a Red QR code.  This color coding indicates:

  • GREEN – proof of your COVID-19 vaccination has been uploaded into the Mercy College Health Portal
  • YELLOW – proof of vaccination is not currently uploaded, including those with an approved medical or religious exemption, but you are compliant with weekly COVID testing on campus
  • RED –  no proof of vaccination is on file, and you are not compliant with weekly COVID testing on campus

All Mercy community members who are unvaccinated, including those with approved medical or religious exemptions, must schedule weekly COVID testing (and must show up each week and get tested) to be allowed to enter any campus building.  You can schedule your weekly COVID-19 test by

If you have not previously submitted your proof of vaccination, please do so immediately by submitting through the  or emailing your proof to covidtesting@mercy.edu minimally one business day prior to coming to campus in order to avoid being turned away at building entrances.

A current mandate from New York State also requires employees to complete the daily health screening which is also available on the Mavericks Safe App before coming to any of the Mercy Campuses. You will not be required to show the results of the health screening in order to gain entry.  We ask for everyone’s cooperation in using only designated points of entry to access and exit each building.  All exits remain available to you in case of emergency.

The Mavericks Safe App is available to download for free from iOS or the Android Play Store and is your resource to stay connected and make your experience on campus safe and informative.  Users are able to log-in using their Mercy credentials. If you are having any difficulty downloading the Mav Safe App, Campus Safety Officers will provide instructions as you arrive to campus this coming week. If you have questions about the Mavericks Safe App, please contact the Department of Campus Safety at (914) 674-7225 or safety@mercy.edu. &Բ;&Բ;
