Through a formal teach-out agreement with Cazenovia College, many students will have the opportunity to transfer to Â鶹ÉçÇø in Fall 2023 and continue toward their degrees without interruption.
Offering one of the lowest private college tuitions in the region, Mercy can offer Cazenovia students the robust college experience they are looking for without the anxiety of transferring to a higher cost institution. Plus we have a special scholarship for all Cazenovia Alumni interested in any of our Graduate programs.

Â鶹ÉçÇø has developed seamless transfer opportunities for current Cazenovia students.
This means that students who qualify for the teach-out program will not lose any credits or add additional time toward program completion if they enroll at Mercy in the fall.

Q: What has happened at Cazenovia College?
A: Cazenovia College has announced that, due to financial concerns, Cazenovia College will not be enrolling students for the 2023-2024 academic year. The College is working toward closure prior to the start of the fall 2023 semester.
Q: How is Mercy College involved?
A: Mercy College has entered into a teach-out agreement with Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, New York to offer their students the opportunity to join the Mercy College academic community and continue their education in fall 2023.
Q: What is a teach-out agreement?
A: A teach-out agreement is a plan between two institutions that provides opportunity for students to complete an academic program, started at one institution, at the other partner institution.
Q: When can students apply to transfer to Mercy as part of the teach-out?
A: Cazenovia College students can begin applying to Mercy to enroll for fall 2023.
Q: Is this agreement like the agreement with the College of New Rochelle (CNR) in 2019?
A: No. In this case, Cazenovia College entered into agreements with multiple institutions for students currently enrolled in their programs, and Mercy is their partner in the New York metro area since many of their students are from our region. The number of students coming to Mercy is expected to be significantly smaller than with the CNR agreement. Also, the agreement for CNR involved employment of faculty and staff, but the agreement with Cazenovia focuses on student program completion.
Q: Is this a merger or acquisition?
A: No. This is not a merger or acquisition. It is an agreement between Mercy College and Cazenovia College to continue the educational needs of Cazenovia’s students at Mercy.
Q: If I am a current Cazenovia student, why should I continue my education at Mercy College?
A: Mercy College is proud to be able to offer current Cazenovia students an uninterrupted path to continue the education which they sought at Cazenovia. Mercy College has developed seamless transfer opportunities for the following undergraduate Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science programs:

A: Students are certainly free to transfer elsewhere. However, through the agreement between Cazenovia and Mercy, students in good standing have the best possible opportunity to transfer to Mercy College.

A: Credits for all courses taken at Cazenovia will be honored by Mercy as long as the grades obtained meet the criteria for passing at Mercy.
Q: Will my Cazenovia grade point average be calculated into the grade point average I earn at Mercy?
A: No. Your Cazenovia grade point average will display on your Cazenovia transcript only. Your Mercy College grade point average will be calculated based on Mercy College coursework only.
Q: Will current Cazenovia students who matriculate at Mercy be able to change their major?
A: Yes. Cazenovia students in good standing will become Mercy students and thus will be able to change their major consistent with .
Q: Will housing be available to Cazenovia students?

A: Fall 2023 registration opens in March 2023.
Q: How do I get advice to map out my individual path to graduation?
A: Each Cazenovia student will be paired with a PACT (Personalized Achievement Contract) mentor who will reach out to them and work closely with them to map their individual path to graduation and career success.
Q: Where will I take my classes starting in fall 2023?
A: Transfer students can choose to enroll in classes at one of Mercy’s three campuses in Dobbs Ferry, Manhattan, or the Bronx. You can also enroll in online classes. For a full list of program offerings and locations, please contact Mercy’s Admissions office at 877.MERCY.GO.
Q: Will tuition at Mercy College be more expensive than Cazenovia?
A: Mercy College has one of the lowest private college tuitions in the region. The agreement also offers an improved financial arrangement, as most Cazenovia students will see a lower tuition. Students admitted to Mercy will be offered a tuition rate equivalent to that of Mercy’s current students for the academic year, which has historically been less than the tuition rate charged by Cazenovia College.
Q: Will I qualify for the same financial aid or scholarships?
A: Cazenovia students will also be eligible, upon application, to receive scholarships and financial aid, including need-based grants, available through Mercy College. In addition, Cazenovia alumni who enroll into one of Mercy’s graduate programs will receive a one-time $1,000 alumni scholarship for fall 2023
